None of the language in the quotes makes me feel particularly optimistic they are going to hit the spring 2019 deadline. Also worth pointing out Tom Galloway said the region hoped to announce a date for start of service near the end of March, but it certainly doesn't sound like they're about to do that.

I am so glad I reached out. I just love "reaching out".
I work for the .gov and even managers and directors get the "thanks for reaching out". The public think we have answers, we don't.

I don't really see any major roadblocks in the quotes:
- One speed sensor needs to be installed
- Testing and control system integration is in progress
- A software update is needed to eliminate the need to restart the software
- Grandlinq has some construction work remaining

It's not the specific work they mention, it's the incredibly non-committal language used throughout. They won't even say they'll hit the target date once they announce it, just that they "want to".

I read that more as not wanting to be burned by committing to another date.

...which can also be interpreted as uncertainty around if that date is near or not.
I’m with others - thinking late summer or fall.

And once it hits late enough in the fall, they'll just revert to a spring launch -- better more testing in winter anyway.

Opening date announcement has officially been deferred.

Quote:"We are targeting that," said Thomas Schmidt, the region's commissioner of transportation. But he wouldn't provide a specific date for the launch.
The region had planned to specify an exact launch date at the March 27 regional council meeting, but that has been deferred, he said.

I have observed trains pulling in and out of Frederick Terminal this morning on a regular bases. The first one I saw was at 6:38, then 6:58, then 7:18 and the last one at 7:35.

I thought there was a pattern of trains every 20 minutes but the next train didn't show until 8:08.

This doesn't make me feel confident. There's only one reason to defer.

Yes, only one reason: they don't yet have enough confidence in their target date, whatever that is.

But if it was in the near future, should they not have a date they're confident in? That's what I mean.
