The COVID-19 pandemic
(09-03-2021, 08:18 PM)ac3r Wrote: We've lost 2 years of our lives to this bullshit, I'm not going to sit around losing even more of it because anti-vaxxers want to lick doorknobs and end up in the hospital. Fuck em. I'll wear my mask until the local bylaw says I have to do otherwise, but I'm not waiting around anymore, hiding inside my apartment because anti-vaxxers want to be morons. I've already been vacationing around the world, enjoying nightclubs and cafés and bars in other countries because it's allowed there and not here. Why the hell do you want to keep living without the freedom to do that here, because some ignorant fools are too stupid to get vaccinated? I'm not on their side, but jeez...we've been kept in bondage for far too long. I'm seriously done with it. I was 33 years old when this started, I'm not going to turn 35 years old and still be living like this. If you want to point to statistics and stuff, point to the fact that almost all of the people in the hospital who are seriously sick are idiots who have chosen to not be vaccinated (with the exceptions of those who cannot be...but they are doing their part to be safe).

Yes yes yes yes! We get our freedoms back by vaccinating. End of story.

And I appreciate the emotion and passion with which you expressed this. I’m feeling similarly. This isn’t some academic argument; really there isn’t an academic argument about the basic “almost everybody should get vaccinated” point, only around details like exactly how good various vaccines are and just exactly how much benefit different types of masks provide. We can’t require people not to believe stupid things, but we do have the right to move on, including if that means excluding anti-vaxxers from regular events.

I feel that I’ve probably already posted this before (and indeed did post it elsewhere just recently), but it’s still just as good:

Provincial trend down to a 14% increase and the region is at just 7%. Will it hold long enough for the vaccine passports/mandates to have an impact?

That is a classic that very much bears re-watching. Thanks!

I also like this one, although it’s more metaphysical:
