Honestly, at this point, I'd take what we have for our suburban local train station here, no actual building, nothing, just convenient access, via tunnel, elevators, heated enclosures on the platform, a roof spanning most of the platform, great signage (in our case we also have extensive sheltered bike parking, but that's probably not necessary in Ontario yet). This would already be better than the existing train station which is hard to access, usually closed (and thus un-sheltered), and with limited signage and notification, at least for most users (who are using GO not Via). And the station here is like a couple of million dollars worth of work and materials.
