They now have put the boards back up on the higher levels and starting to brick the lower levels. Is this building going to become a parking stucture?
Short answer is no, the site plan from the plan of subdivision and OPA/ZBA doesn't have an access road to the building so they'd need to get that approved in SPA but that gets rid of the plaza which Kitchener's Parks department would likely have issue with. There are no permits beyond the existing demo permit for the office building, meaning it is likely being done to secure the building.
From the engineering side of things it is certainly possible to turn it into a parking structure however there would be significant work required to make it functional and there is really no financial incentive for Auburn to do it. One would need to fit parking ramps into the structure, this alone would likely require a structural retrofit of the building which is not a cheap thing to do, possible yes but doesn't make a lot of sense financially.
