ION - Waterloo Region's Light Rail Transit
A good article which unfortunately makes me even more upset. It shows that indeed when we dig into many of the slow areas we get completely bogus justifications. For example, the southbound slow order at Erb/Caroline is there originally because of track damage; but the track damage has been repaired and all that remains is figuring out who is going to pay for it. But whether the finances have been figured out is not a safety issue that should affect train operation. In other words, the actual explanation for the slow order is no explanation at all. Similarly in other areas the article confirms my suspicions that the system is being operated absurdly cautiously, the equivalent of setting a strict 40km/h speed limit on roads like Hespeler or Weber.
