The hyperbole aside, what do you propose to do to control individual building design on private property? Architectural design approval board for all buildings taller than three stories?

Vertikal and DTK Condos are both horribly ugly as well...

I think it's fair to lament the aesthetic tragedy that is taking place in this region. There's a reason people care about the way things look. 

No, we should not have an architectural design board. That's far too slippery a slope. Rather, I would've hoped the companies and architects would have enough dignity to build projects that they can at least bear to look at. 

I'm merely disappointed that the developers we attract seem to be bottom of the barrel. Meanwhile downtown Guelph just got a gorgeous new proposal designed by Hariri Pontarini. It doesn't need to be groundbreaking. Station Park is perfectly bland as far as modern residential towers go, but at least they're not ugly and some thought went into design and finishes. 

I'm always going to prefer a brick wall to a cold grey concrete slab.
