DTK - King Street Summer Closure To Traffic

Working downtown for the past few years now, I have been a regular attendee to summer events where they close King St temporarily (King St Cruise Night, Food Trucks, Oktoberfest, Blues Fest, etc.) and my thought is always "Wow look at all the people who have come out!". Particularly when the weather is really nice of course. Last year the Cruising on King you were literally bumping into people. It really is a wonderful experience, and I can't even yet imagine how cool it would be to have it extended to Kitchener Market. If you haven't yet experienced one of the DTK events, I highly recommend checking it out while keeping this idea in mind.

The existing temporary event closures on King, already help to set a precedent and also provide data (reference) for businesses. Also many of the restaurants and coffee shops already have street patios on King. Absolutely agreed that if King were closed from July to Oktoberfest, that there should be a lot of planning that goes in to having events, activities, markets, etc. planned to maximize the space.

I think this is the only way to sell it to the businesses.

You can look at the existing events and show a big draw in people and say the same thing is going to happen.  But what does the average Tuesday night look like?  More events=more people
