Here's the most recent update in the Record about today's Regional council meeting that decided to declare 555 Beechwood Dr as surplus land, with an amended motion from Councillor Strickland which resulted in unanimous support. https://www.therecord.com/news/waterloo-...oject.html 

Thanks to everyone who took the time to contact their councillors and/or speak as a delegation.

I have to say that this concerns me somewhat "Strickland was in favour of going ahead with the project, but he said it was important to make it “more palatable” for the neighbourhood." but overall it seemed like there was a good amount of support for this project.
