Waterloo Region reported 59 new cases for today (14.3% of the active cases). 394 new cases for the week (-3), averaging 10.9% of active cases. 387 active cases (-203 in the last seven days).
Active cases are now down by about 275 from the recent peak, which helps keep new infections at a more moderate level. New cases are averaging 56 for the past week, compared to 77 for the prior week. New cases as % of actives are down from 14.5% last week to 10.9% this week. These are encouraging signs but the Christmas holidays are just around the corner.

Ontario reported 1,983 new cases today -- another new high -- with a seven-day average of 1,862 (+34). 1,804 recoveries and 35 deaths translated to an increase of 144 active cases, and a current total of 16,233. +1,438 active cases for the week and 159 deaths. 61,809 tests -- a record here, too -- resulted in a 3.21% positivity rate. The positivity rate is averaging 3.60% for the past seven days, as compared to 3.78% for the preceding seven.
228 patients in ICU (+7) and 829 hospital beds in total (+163 for the week).
