Region of Waterloo International Airport - YKF
(02-13-2021, 02:13 AM)plam Wrote: Pearson is probably one of the slowest airports for luggage delivery by the way. I talked to a guy who was involved in system design. He said it was terrible. Almost any airport anywhere else is faster. 30 minute waits at Pearson aren't unusual, 10 minute waits at Wellington are. Both Wellington and Zurich have predicted luggage arrival times.

System design aside, the challenge everyone has to deal with is that first step: getting a crew to the plane to unload the luggage, and then drive it over and feed it into the system (manual unloading if you're on a 737 or 757 that can't do cargo containers). And YYZ used to be absolutely terrible at this.

But it has improved somewhat, at least; I remember waiting 20-30 minutes for the first suitcases to show up. The days (well, pre-COVID), most of the time (at T1, for an AC flight) they'll start arriving within 10 minutes of me getting to the luggage hall. Then it's a question of whether your luggage has priority tags on it or not ...
