Ontario reported 563 new cases today -- the highest in four weeks -- with a seven-day average of 404 (+21), compared to 355 a week ago. +357 active cases and 31 deaths for the week. 30,187 tests with a positivity rate of 1.87%. The positivity rate is averaging 1.54% for the past seven days, compared to 1.37% for the preceding seven.
86 people in the ICU (excluding 23 SK patients), +1 from yesterday and -14 over the past week.
We're back on the upswing. A new recent high in cases, and the weekly change trend is now clearly above zero (see chart below).
Some extra details:
• 259 unvaccinated
• 15 partially vaccinated
• 249 fully vaccinated
• 40 status unknown
Adds up to 563 new cases today. 264 fully or partially vaccinated against 259 unvaccinated.
I think we'll be seeing a lot more "parity" with cases now that most of the deniers have gotten sick already and those with shots are starting to lose immunity to the virus.
That, and the fact that over 90% of the eligibles have already had at least one dose. Without vaccinations, the current level would probably result in 3000+ new cases in a day -- and that's with only the about 3000 active cases that we have today. Infections would quickly go through the roof, really.
