It looks like the windows will be bigger, plus they need to add the balconies (and entrances thereto) so I'm assuming the current brutalist facade, presumably non-load-bearing, will be completely removed.
They don't need to add balconies, they have chosen to. Those curved balconies are part of the problem with the design. Basically half of the balconies have no functionality because of the curve. Housing is good, design is typically kitchener waterloo.

Hi! Don’t know if this is common knowledge but Waterloo council voted to relocate city museum to the old Carnegie library in Uptown.

That’s excellent in my opinion. A location in a historic building in the historic part of town is a big improvement on Conestoga Mall. Although it does remove a non-commercial attraction from the mall.

I know that the Mall museum space was part of the deal with the owners of Conestoga Mall for one of their previous expansions. It probably made sense when the thinking was that Conestoga Mall would continue to grow as place to be while Uptown Waterloo would continue to offer no place for people to be. It's a good use for the building with opportunities for expansion and collaboration (not to mention walking distance to other City-owned facilities.

Waterloo trims public meetings and hires two new planners, aiming to slash up to 10 months off housing approvals

Does anyone know if a map exists online for public property ownership for the City of Waterloo? I can find one for Kitchener, but not Waterloo. Seeing if I can find IN8’s 4 acre property in Waterloo where they are planning 6 towers up to 39 storeys. Thanks!

After a good five years, maybe six years. These people have given up on renovating this building. Yes, it is one dollar. Also close to Wilfried Laurier.

I thought they finished renovating the building. What do you mean they have given up?

I’m pretty sure they sometimes put $1 if they don’t want to put an actual number. I get the impression this is more in commercial than residential and more in bureaucratic situations like a power of sale than in a sale by a normal owner.

Ya, it's not really $1 but I thought that was entertaining for this location. From what I've seen it's not finished so I'm making an assumption that the current owners want out and have someone else take over the project.

I’ve been getting sponsored ads on social media for a development at the corner of Park and John in Uptown Waterloo called Iron Horse Living.
Looks to be some pretty decent sized units.

Does this project at Park and John have a page yet? I wonder if the developer will ask to have the IHT rerouted to make their job easier, or does the render actually show the project split by the IHT?

I think this is on the parking lot property along the trail, behind the properties on Park.

The trail has already been rerouted. Coming from Kitchener, there is now a trail along John to Park with a formal pedestrian and bike crossing and then another trail along Park beside the parking garage. Old trail is still open but will close.
Based on the rendering though, I agree, I don't think this is right at the corner but on the small Manulife parking lot behind the houses on Park, abutting the trail (where York St. ends)

Old trail is still open but will close.
Where did you hear that? Everything I've seen has said it will remain open.
