Look at the new(ish) sidewalk in front of the shops on Ontario at that intersection - that's been made with the same method. It cured to a paler grey.

That comment was a bit of a boner on my part- I was dazzled by how shiny and dark it looked, and didn't think that it's because it's still wet. It still is nice touch, though.

I don't think anyone probably interpreted it as being the other meaning, given the sentence and the context. Edit: note the sentences in your comic, which are hilarious, could be ambiguous as to which meaning is being used.

It's not impolite to use it to mean "a silly mistake." But I'm sorry if it caused any offence or anything.

haha That's a very delicate way of putting that. Honestly, I use the word from time to time (with the "silly mistake" meaning) and have never had anyone comment or look at me funny.

Interesting that the late penalty is capped at $3.3 million, and someone here estimates that the $1500/vehicle/day penalty would cost $4 million if there were no limits. It might mean that they're giving a worst case scenario, since once you hit $3.3 million worth of delays, it doesn't matter (financially) whether you overshoot by a day or a year. But really, apparently, it doesn't matter at this point. I wonder if the seemingly low maximum value of penalty is to prevent anyone from "pulling out" in order to avoid a late penalty cost that is great on net than a cancellation cost.

Other meaning could still possibly apply in the context of someone really excited about LRT infrastructure.

Well, I think we'll be stretching that "approx." bit for a little while.  Grandlinq is still putting in underground cabling on Charles at Queen:
   

And even at Benton, there are no rails to be seen yet, just the same optimistic sign:
   

I figure two weeks at the minimum.  They need to build the forms for the track, lay the sleepers, bring in the rails, put in the rebar, pour the concrete and then let it dry before they can lay down the asphalt (which is is needed to reopen the streets, I assume).

Is this even realistic to do in two weeks?
