WLU does have a faculty of music, although I really don't know what their needs are.

It's still my dream for UWaterloo and Laurier to work together to build a proper Convocation Hall.
Convocation in a Gymnasium is... undignified.

Isn’t convocation in the same room that one wrote most of ones examinations appropriate? I agree that a joint facility is an interesting idea. Maybe with Conestoga College as well.

Conestoga's convocations have at least been at held at Bingemans rather than a gymnasium

My convocation at Guelph was held in the indoor soccer stadium. Trent's are outdoors (weather permitting, in the Athletics Centre otherwise),

I convocated at 1) Place des Arts; 2) the Bell Centre (not sure that's the best) and on the lawn just below the Great Dome in Cambridge, MA. The lawn is great if it doesn't rain. Place des Arts was appropriate, I thought, but maybe it's too expensive or something. McGill now does it in a big tent on the lawn.
I've never been to a school with a dedicated convocation hall, so it's a bit hard for me to imagine what the room is otherwise good for. I've been to my share of convocations in the PAC and it doesn't seem so bad to me.

Convocation Hall at University of Toronto is also used as concert space.

You found the perfect opportunity to show off your academic background! My convocation at the PAC was decent... they do an ok job decorating the space but the lack of natural light, and the fluorescent-style artificial light is not very flattering.

Laurier used to hold Convocation at The Memorial Auditorium in the late 70s and early 80s. Not sure when they went to the gymnasium as the venue where it is held now. I think a shared Convocation Hall would be good for both universities. The buildings are more than just convocation places. They fit about 1200+ students for introductory psychology into one classroom (Convocation Hall) and repeat several times a day. The University of Toronto has no "interference" issues or scheduling problems and they have 64,000+ students on the main downtown campus while the suburban campuses Mississauga and Scarborough have their own convocations on their campuses.

Looks like the Phil's/Pizza Maniac plaza has been bought out by a student rental company: https://thecord.ca/pizza-maniac-closes-its-doors/
