I thought someone else mentioned that a while back as I've used it a few times now as well. Normally I get off on Ottawa, but for some reason, it's been ridiculously backed up in the eastbound direction to the point where there is a line-up of cars stretching a good ways back on the off-ramp, so I've been heading west and taking East up to Krug to get home instead. I should really just remember to get off on Bruce instead, though.

Is Ottawa still all backed up there because it’s a single lane due to the construction between the highway and River? The last few times we’ve been through there the just been awful. I always forget to take a different route to avoid it.

I always see Ottawa backed up over the highway on my drive home from work. So I assume it is still reduced.

It's been a single lane for a long time, but the back-ups have generally been manageable. Something changed this week, though, and it's far far worse than normal.

I agree, I'm not sure what the difference is (as it has been 1 lane each way for quite some time), but its been even worse the last few days.
Someone should speak to whomever approved left turn lanes from s/b Ottawa onto Franklin w/o a turn lane should be forced to drive that stretch of road all day...

I went through this stretch today and yeah, not so good. Intersection of Ottawa and River is being repaved so a whole bunch of lanes shut down and re-routed. Probably why the back up on Ottawa. No signs but there was a guy on Ottawa waving and pointing traffic through which was somewhat helpful, to be optimistic.

And today it was a breeze; who knows how the wind blows!
Thankfully, it seems like they are doing this stretch of Ottawa way faster than the section between River and Lackner. I wouldn't be surprised if they are substantially done before Christmas.

When do the asphalt plants close? I imagine that is a hard deadline for projects like this, and King Street uptown.

A few years ago, I understood that October 31 was a typical closing date, but that may have shifted if Novembers are warmer from time to time.

They are still laying asphalt here in Ottawa, so I would have thought that K-W would have at least a week or two beyond what happens here.

I've seen roads get a coat of asphalt as late as Mid-December in recent years.

Unless there is a very fast and skilled crew it is probably good business for the asphalt plant. There is a much narrower window as the temperature drops to compact the asphalt properly and some different techniques to use or it won't last as long meaning more business for the asphalt plant.
Everyone move to the back of the bus and we all get home faster.

they look like they are going to start opening up franklin blvd again unless they are working under the sidewalk only. It would be nice if they finished before they can't like last year where they sort of paved two lanes and than didn't have time to finish the job.
