Heh, apparently it only takes a G license to drive .
I wonder if you even need that much (or if it's a GRT/Grandlinq/Keolis requirement) because I don't believe the LRVs qualify as road vehicles under the HTA.

This record article states that the training process is 2 months long.
The CTV clip said they are going to start hiring soon.
Even if they post a want ad for drivers tomorrow hiring won't be done until at least the end of March; plus two months of training puts you to the end of May already.
Currently hiring a data analyst and electro-mechanical technician.
Also, recall that the region's call centre was supposed to hire 4.3 new staff 3 months in advance of Ion's launch. The budget was set with an anticipated start date of March 1, but the positions have not even been posted yet. So figure on at least 1 month for the hiring process plus 3 months of training (according to the region) and you are looking at July at the earliest.
I guess one disadvantage of the public-private-partnership is that you can't submit a FOI request to a private company to get the Gantt chart that says "we are here, and these are the remaining steps, and this is the expected timeline if all goes well."

I seen an LRV in action for the first time yesterday afternoon coming down Northfield and turning down the Waterloo Spur, very exciting!! This was at around 4:20 PM so maybe they have started to extend the testing hours?

Yeah, a little. I’m guessint less paperwork required each day now, so they’re usually out on the track by about 9am, and staying out anywhere from 2pm to 5-6pm.
(This is based on only about 5 sightings and observations by me the few times I’ve been able to watch. Square probably has a much better idea of this with the radio!)

The lawyer in all those 2017 news articles about pending OMB complaints was interviewed in the latest CTV video. He actually specializes in expropriation litigation and claims he has several pending OMB complaints related to Grandlinq trespassing and doing LRT construction on private land that hadn't been expropriated. He's also trying to get larger settlements for businesses because of loss of value to remaining property. Most of his clients seem to be straightforward market value expropriations, so I'm unclear why he was making all those comments about huge settlements for loss of business last year.

I wonder if part of that is why the traffic and railway lights at the GM Dealership on Courtland are still not activated. That is going to become very problematic, very soon!

Fully agree with this - while I'm rarely down in that area during school hours, if I am (either biking or driving), it's horrible. I can't imagine the anxiety of being an LRV operator going through here...

My understanding was that to avoid these 'trespass' issues, during a construction project an easement will be agreed on property that is not fully taken. If that wasn't properly arranged in advance, then I can see GrandLinq definitely running into some issues.

They should formalize the crossing point on the south side of the Kitchener Market platform - put crosswalk lines and make curb cuts. Then, if necessary, maybe put solid barriers across the midline to reduce casual midblock crossing.
