There's a grinding attachment on that mini excavator and they're chewing up the walls of the hole. They've done it all the way around.

I haven't seen this one, but flattening a secant pile wall? Have a look at http://www.railsystem.net/secant-pile-walls/ - the wall is first made with a whole bunch of overlapping columns, and later the bulges can be ground off.
