Of course according to Schedule 1, the Substantial Completion Date can only be determined when both a Substantial Completion Certificate and a Final Public Infrastructure Works Acceptance Certificate are issued. The Substantial Completion Date is then the latest date published on those certificates.

So yesterday I was at Caroline/Erb and saw a police cruiser sitting in front of the Clay & Glass Gallery. I thought to myself, I hope he is watching for left turners. So I waited 30 seconds before the first scofflaw went thru, and I quickly learned that's not what the officer was doing. He must of been really tied up, as when another driver pointed up at the No Left Turn sign, the van went straight up Bridgeport into oncoming traffic before doing a U turn and making a right turn onto Erb.

The officer didn't move. I can't wait until they start enforcing these....

Bad design encourages stupidity... and this intersection and one way street system is the best proof of this. I live right there in one of the apartment buildings on Caroline (next to the lake), and i see drivers going the wrong way at least ONCE PER WEEK. And not just a little bit, they go all the way to the intersection with Albert until they realize it's the wrong way! it's actually insane. Ugh this actually gets me so mad, going back to two-ways or at least having much better signage would help a ton.

One way spike strips like they have in parking lots would go a long way here...

I'd rather see an ultrasonic sensor or a radar pointed at the road. When it detects wrong-way travel, one of those giant water-shower projection screens would shoot up, with a massive illuminated "WRONG WAY" image in it!

That is awesome. Could work for the Queen’s Quay streetcar tunnel in Toronto also.

Although I have to say that at a certain point drivers need to be responsible for their own driving. I’m somewhat ambivalent about going to this extent to work around driver incompetence.

Maybe activating the water curtain should result in a ticket. It would be just a backup to ensure the driver doesn’t continue even further.

A later date as in "next week" or "maybe some time this year"? Would be nice if they were somewhat more specific. I can't wait for the CTV and Record articles that are sure to follow.

See, that's the problem.  I can get why they're reluctant to share details... if they hadn't said anything that testing was going to start today, nobody would have known any different, and there wouldn't be any negative backlash if it slipped.

So, I can totally sympathize that this might cause them to clam up and reveal even fewer details moving forward.

CBC is the only media outlet that actually bothered to get in touch with the region rather than simply speculating from the tweet.
