Other vaccination location options are quietly ramping up. Our doctors office is preparing to be a vaccination clinic. Pharmacies will also be online soon as well.

I was hoping that I could have registered through the Ontario portal for my mother, who is over 80. I (pre)registered her a while back with the ROW site, but still haven't heard anything. The site itself was kind of a hot mess.

Which is great! But if you were at risk for clotting you were also probably at high risk for bad effects from COVID. Anyway it's strictly better to have a treatment for it as well.

Unfortunately, the Ontario science table is suggesting yet another 3 week lockdown across the province as things are going up. I don't know how long they expect to keep relying on ineffective "lockdowns" because they barely do anything to limit the spread of the virus at this point and are just shuttering businesses and pushing people further and further into poverty: https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/strict-three-...-1.5351152

It looks like this would be for the Golden Horseshoe, from Toronto to Niagara. Effective? I don't know. But the case counts are going up steadily once again, and vaccine-based herd immunity is not imminent yet.

The upslope is very clear. And the positivity rate is now back above 3%, with the same level of testing, so there is clearly much more virus out there in the wild at the moment.

Does anyone know how contact tracing is going in Ontario? The most recent news I could find was an article in the Post from November saying only 40% of cases were successfully traced.

The recent case number increases have been primarily in the GTA and Hamilton/Niagara areas. Coincidentally, 90% of the B.1.1.7 (the most widespread variant, the one from the UK) is in those areas. And the N501Y positivity rates are high in those areas: Durham 58%, Toronto 59%, York 52%, Peel 52%, Halton 37%, Hamilton 34%, Niagara 40%, confirming the high incidence of the variants. And these variants are more aggressive, resulting in more new infections.

Waterloo is 26%, London 12% -- and Windsor 3%.
