Region of Waterloo International Airport - YKF
(04-29-2020, 05:03 PM)timio Wrote: Likely related to climate. Many airlines will send their unused planes (eg. 737Max8's) to the desert for longer stays where the temperatures are fairly stable and weather remains generally static.

Pictures of airplanes in the desert currently: https://samchui.com/2020/04/25/photograp...qnr3Xt7mUk

Definitely the climate, and the wide open flat spaces. The boneyards are pretty neat places, my parents went to one in Airzona I think. Planes stored temporarily are usually all wrapped up and sealed to keep the sand and animals from getting in. I some pictures from France of planes with wrapped engines and stuff but can't seem to find it now.
