ION - Waterloo Region's Light Rail Transit
The rapid transit team just posted some absolutely incredible photos from Waterloo Park just now. Aerial shots, low shots, views we can't see from the pedestrian bridge.

The ion aBRT stops in Cambridge are looking great!  I just had to turn around and park to get a photo:

I had no idea they were doing illuminated bollards.  It looks absolutely fantastic, I think (minus the trash bin!). You can't really see it in my photo, but the whole blue back canopy of the station is illuminated, too. Wowwowowowow.

If these bus stops look this good, I absolutely can't wait to see the giant mosaic wall on the LRT stops! I think these look light years ahead of the St Clair line stops in Toronto.

Who says you can't make stuff look good on a budget?

Thank you! That does look great! I hadn't passed by at night- the light-up bollards look great, and so does the blue. Very "big city" looking.

Better a trash bin than cigarette butts everywhere.*

*Actually, it'll probably be both.

...Google?

Or just load facebook and type "ion" and it's their first post.

Not sure if that will work.

Raining really hard in Cambridge right now... worried about the bridge progress today. I wonder if they'll defer.

Tried that, nothing came up in the first five links.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure what google search you would have us use to find that... and you hadn't yet mentioned that it was on their facebook page.

Argh. That explains it... I don't know why I failed to mention that. Now I understand why you couldn't find them. Sorry...

For those who commute by foot or bicycle in this area: did you see any signs of the bridge coming out this morning? Just trying to decide if I need to rush over there after work to take some photos tonight or if I should wait until the morning.

Culvert retrofit/bridge replacement deferred to July 20-26.

Is this news posted anywhere official? It would seem to indicate that an entire week of freight will be cancelled. Last night’s trains may indeed have been the last ones over the old bridge.

I should also mention that on my way through this morning I saw a large truck delivering many more pipe segments and what I suspect are more pumps. Coming back in the afternoon, sure enough, five more pipes, larger than the previous ones, are being set up to take water from above the work zone to below. A temporary bridge is being installed to take pedestrians over the pipes. My guess is that this approximately triples their pumping capacity. Whether this is enough I have no idea.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, construction at Charles and Ontario:

The news about the bridge replacement date was just confirmed in the July 17 ion email update from Grandlinq.
