Platform screen doors are typically used for high floor metros.
They are moreso used for less dramatic reasons than suicide prevention. They keep garbage from interfering with the tracks (particularly the 3rd rail). They prevent accidental falling off the platform. In high crowding conditions, they increase the capacity of the platform by allowing people to walk right up to the edge safely.
An at-grade system doesn't really have the same problem with people falling on the tracks. It's a lot easier to get back up. And garbage won't interfere with the power supply, since it's catenary wire, not 3rd rail.
My preferred solution to climate control is a train coming every 5 minutes to pick you up!
