Those factors aside all trees help to absorb CO2 emissions and provide a shield against soil erosion.

New snow storage facility in Kitchener to cost $3 million dollars, seem like a lot of money for what it is. Considering some winters we are getting very little snow but still the snow from those areas has to go somewhere.

There's what looks like a moderate size low-rise apartment building going up in Kitchener on Kehl St between Hoffman St and Heiman St.

St. Patrick Catholic Elementary School looks like it is being demolished piece by piece over the past couple of months . I never see any back hoes on site.

There is a new 5 story office and retail building planned for 31 Kingsbury Dr in KItchener. There was a number of construction vehicles on site this morning when I went by.

Read this on Facebook regarding the land south of Dunbar Road on the east side of Hespeler:

"I was told by a very reliable source the City purchased that corner lot and the two auto services places south of Dunbar that just got torn down and also the Long and McQuade building with plans to tear it down too. AND they have an offer in on the former car dealership."

Anyone hear anything about this?

If true I wonder what the plan for that area would be.

knowing cambridge, to leave the land vacant after taking down the buildings, like they did at 52 Kerr St which had a neighbourhood market and a pool hall about 20 years ago, they replaced  it with a rusting out car.

As far as I know there is supposed to be some sort of commercial development at this property. There was a committee of adjustment meeting back in April to deal with minor zoning bylaw changes.

Is a (former) gas station part of that collection?  That would require significant remediation.

I guess there is that much demand for office space in the area.  I must say I am a bit surprised!

The corner property is, yes.

What sort of commercial property is planned? Multi-floor or single-floor?

We all know it's more than likely just going to end up being another strip mall. :/

On a related note, does anyone remember what the document was that outlined growth in all the urban areas in the region? I remember it having pictures of various "stages" leading up to what certain areas should look like, which were basically renders composited onto Google Streetview pictures. I specifically remember one of these images being from in front of the Canadian Tire on Fairway, pointed West, and another from this exact corner of Dunbar and Hespeler, pointed North. There were some great "potential" renders in there! I could've sworn it was the Transportation Master Plan, but going to look back at it now, that one is very image-less.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it! Page 139, specifically.
