PluginKW held a one-time Hallowe'en event last year in the funeral home that soon will be Sixo. The fact that they're holding this year's in the church is no indication of its long-term plans. It's the sort of event (somewhat like Startups and Beers) that takes advantage of unused space, and it's a decent way to raise awareness of the fact that the space is empty to the owner's preferred market of tech companies etc.

Churches make great music halls. I'd love to have a 750-person hall downtown with some character but given the part of the article Rainrider22 linked that says the owner doesn't feel a bar or nightclub is appropriate, it seems unlikely.
