Won't be long now, I'm sure. If they've already started the "detail" work (the tensioners), then the specialty crew for mounting everything must be around and ready to go.
I wonder when they'll install the track switch to go into the OMSF yard - yard trackwork there will start early summer. But it'll be akward to do that if they've already installed catenary... Sooooo much action to watch!

I heard a rumour about ION's opening date... am I allowed to share?

I saw the drone flying around the Erb/Caroline/Waterloo Square area today. New videos must be in the works shortly.
Everyone move to the back of the bus and we all get home faster.

Yeah, my question was going to be good or bad rumour? I want to hear good things.

Caught them in the middle of a pour on Charles this morning!
Nice to see them doing the pour "bare"! Means we're into the consistently warm enough weather that no covering is required for these smaller pours. That means trackwork can progress more quickly!
Crews are at work all along Charles. Mostly hydro stuff. Trackwork on Charles South of Borden only consists of laying some rebar mats. Almost nothing happened this week with that regard, a bit disappointing. I am guessing all the flurry of utility work happening today is to blame.
@insider, what's your scoop? Very annoying to say you brought something for Show and Tell, and not share with the class.

Update on the KCI stairs - crews were working today!

In most of the closures so far pedestrian access of some sort has been maintained. Interestingly enough it isn't on the list anymore either: http://app.kitchener.ca/road_closure/es_...losure.asp and Gaukel at Charles is on the list and that was open this morning. As for Ion's opening day, perhaps it is time for a poll? Based on current progress: 1) on time 2) early 3) late 4) really late

From what I have seen I am willing to say Early. Things are humming along!

It was kind of odd that the City of Kichener Road Closures website was the only one showing this closure. I will say "on time", of course will change if the trains are late. |
