The Metz (Schneiders site redevelopment)
Along Palmer they don't have hoarding so you can see into the site, as long as you don't mind some mud.

It looks like they're going to use three luffing tower cranes here. They have two crane bases and plus the one crane setup in your picture.

Two of those bases that are in the picture are just sitting on the concrete you can see the anchors on the bottom. The only one currently cast is the middle of the three. The other two are likely be the bases for the other two cranes. It's also unlikely that they'd use luffing jib cranes just because of the distance between buildings. They can accommodate 3 hammerhead cranes as long as they have staggered jib heights without there being much of an issue.

I took some pictures at the same place today, but I am too unsteady on my feet to get close enough to the fence. I didn't know that you had already posted a picture. Here is a picture taken through the gate at the other end. They finally fixed the sidewalk so it is passable for pedestrians.

A bit of fence in the photo, but it documents the current progress really well!

I thought I had posted an update, but looks like I didn't click "Post Reply".

Anyway, large crane assembled and is now completed. Just drove by it a couple hours ago. So looks like a few years of construction on this site.

Seven to ten years as they stated in the public meetings.

Here's the site with the crane, the crane that is up is way taller than required for an 8 floor building, generally when this happens its to allow a future crane (this will likely have three in total) to pass underneath so the jibs don't hit. The second cranes base is installed in the foundation, they're just waiting on concrete now.

Cool. Although I think this project is filled with ugly looking buildings, it is neat to see a site with more than one (1) crane on it. Large scale developments in the GTA almost always have a couple cranes on site.   I thought station park was going to have two (2) or three (3) cranes at a time, but they really stuck to the phased approach.

It won't be the first time KW has had multiple cranes up at once, Drewlo had two, Union Towers had two, Icon had two, Society 145 had two,  Garment/100 Vic/Glove Box had three. Even in KW it's not uncommon to see multiple up at once. Sure we're not likely to see anywhere near the number of cranes that projects in Toronto have, for example Etobicoke Civic Centre and 5207 Dundas have 8 between them and they're across the street from each other. However we will still see 2 or three cranes on a site, it isn't an uncommon sight to see.

I think if Covid didn't hit (and the condo crash, which I don't know if they are linked) we would have seen 3 cranes at Station Park and IN8 would probably have started the Queen Street and Charles Street Towers and alot of more cranes and developments.

I seem to recall when some of the construction was happening on Highland and Ira Needles there were 3 cranes, though I might be incorrect.

They have put posts in to extend the hoarding to the end of Palmer, which will interfere with those people who like to take pictures of holes in the ground.

Example of a hole in the ground.

Whatever happened to putting viewing holes into construction hoardings? You used to see those all the time, way back when.

How about taking a photo over the hoarding using a selfie stick?
