Kitchener city council has provided final approval for the redevelopment of The Boathouse, a key venue in Victoria Park.
Councillors approved the plan at a meeting on Monday.

Walkinshaw Holdings will transform The Boathouse into a venue for live music, food and indoor and outdoor entertainment.

“They will place a focus on social responsibility, with paid local live music a minimum of two days a week, and locally sourced food and drink,” a news release from the city said.

Was biking by here and looks like they're doing some sort of construction/addition of a structure on their patio. Does anyone know what's being added? I'm surprised given how recently they opened.

They're building an outdoor bar on the patio. I think it was always a part of the plan, they just didn't get it finished before winter last year. The rough-in has been there since they opened.

Oh nice, will have to check it out when it's complete. We don't have too may outdoor bars in KW. I'm glad they're doing well enough that they're proceeding with this investment - seems like a good sign!
