GO Transit
Unfortunately for some, it is easier to complain than it is to ask.

And did you ask the person on twitter if they have contacted the region? Or did you just come here to complain instead?

Given that lobbying a public organization by generating support online is a perfectly valid method of effecting change in public policy, but this is a private forum where you are only complaining about the methods others use to try to make the world better, and nobody but us will ever see...seems like the pot calling the kettle black is a generous interpretation.

If people on here were truly concerned about this they could have easily reached out to the region to enquire. It is possible that they were not even aware of this problem. Just complaining online, hoping that someone in charge might see it, isn’t the best way to reach a solution. I had a recent concern with tree cutting in the forest behind my house. I could have just complained online about this cutting but instead I reached out to my councillor. He was unaware of what was going on but got back to me shortly after explaining what was going on.

I don't need a connecting bus after a late GO train ride so no, I dont care enough to reach out and find out who dropped the ball.

I care enough to post on here for general awareness and maybe someone who is directly affected will now know and can make arrangements or inquiries.

And again, you have not sought to find out if anyone here (or on Reddit) has contacted the region. YOU are the one who is "just complaining" without even checking.

Honestly, it's not that big a deal, you can just own it, and have a moment of self reflection...

Also, as an aside, reaching out to one's councillor is not really a sustainable option. You should have reached out to the city bylaw management who manage this kind of issue.

You either get service with some disruptions for improvements, or you get no service. Obviously the former is the preferred option.

Metrolinx does not do track work during the week, this is why you see weekend closures because they coordinate multiple projects at once to be completed on the weekend, that way weekday service does not get interrupted which would be the bigger complaint.

I did use GRT's Feedback Form (which I've had success with in the past getting responses and starting conversations with staff about issues) to share a link to the very good reddit post when I saw it. But that was just in case: the way that post was written, I think it's easy to assume that that individual is very engaged and probably did communicate his issues to GRT himself.

Why didn’t any of the complainers that had an issue with this inconvenience, reach out to others who had posted, to ask if anyone had contacted the region before complaining about this issue? Nobody has posted a response, so obviously not, so we are to assume that the issue has not been resolved. Let’s keep complaining in a vacuum until someone hears us.

I had an issue, reached out for clarification, received a satisfactory response.

So, did anyone on here reach out to GRT or the region for a response on this issue?

Are you trolling? Literally two posts above yours is MidTowner stating they have reached out to staff.

Also calling it obvious that nobody has reached out because nobody has posted a response is silly. Even in easy cases it will take days for a response. And this is not something that could be handled at a low level, if it was to be answered it would have to be escalated which would take much longer.

Again, it seems you are the one here complaining because that's easier than actually finding out or thinking about the situation.

This is all quite a big distraction.

It’s not an unreasonable request that our levels of government talk to each other and plan together. Especially when projects like this don’t exactly happen quickly and surprise people. It’s not up to citizens to make sure that public services work properly.

How do we break these information silos within the dozen levels of government in this country?

This is like if a regional road and a municipal road had a 1 metre gap between them after construction and it was somehow up to citizens to let the engineers know about it.

Midtowner never complained about this issue. They did what I was asking if any of the complainers had done. Dan I also did what you asked me to do. I asked if anyone had reached out.

TriTAG have done an excellent writeup on the status of the Kitchener line and its segments, what needs to be done on each, and how and when those can be expected to go ahead: https://tritag.ca/blog/2025/11/28/whats-...ll-day-go/

I think that’s actually a really good analogy. We just assume and expect that road expansions and construction will happen, don’t tend to worry too much about the cost, and can count on them being properly engineered to connect to other roads (at least, well engineered for drivers; not necessarily for other road users). But transit and active transportation projects are debated endlessly and get criticized for cost all the time, and we can’t count on them being designed well.

(note: this doesn’t mean I think the cost of the Cambridge LRT extension is reasonable)
