General Politics Discussion
If the Ford government gets its way (and face it, it will), we've had our last Regional Chair election. Durham, Halton, Muskoka, Niagara, Peel, Waterloo and York Regions are all set to have their next Chairs appointed by the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

So much for democracy...

I welcome it. It's not like our local politicians are great at their job. Redman in particular sucks. And judging by the comments most people agree.

But blue team bad, DoFo bad or whatever.

Say what you like about her, we elected Redman and we had to deal with her. Hopefully the electorate could have learned from that and elected someone better to replace her.

But now we won't get that chance. I don't care what party the Premier is, if they remove democracy from this process, they are doing an unquestionably bad thing.

The cynicism is off the charts today... Removing the rights of locals to vote for local leaders is bad and there's no possible defence of it. Partisanship like this is just cancer to society.

Don’t forget the Ford government also removed the option (option, not requirement!) for municipalities to try ranked balloting.
