Oh, hadn't been expecting those rivets in the corners. It's a good look, though.

That's how the glass panels mount to the frame weldment.  Pretty standard assembly technique for structural glass - and makes it super easy to replace one, if required (ahem). Very practical for installation and long-term maintenance. Love it.

Close-up, it's sort of like this:

I saw the Kitchener glass truck there this morning and actually thought that it was too early for any of that type of work. Very exciting!

I don’t know exactly) don’t need fences, and it’s already established from all the street-running sections that the LRT doesn’t need fences. Note, I’m not saying the Region had a choice; if Transport Canada is going to be unreasonable, there isn’t much we can do. But as a matter of safety, the fences are not needed.

Similar to building codes, if you are doing considerable work in a building you have to update it to meet current codes/ standards.

The closure you refer to was at King and Water for the food truck festival that I attended, which is a very common closure point. King and Francis hasn't had much closure because construction has seen that area of King fenced off as far south as the end of McCabe's. If I recall, there may have been an event in the parking lot bound by 305 King and the TD building, but I was out of town for that.

For the food truck festival, King was definitely closed between Water and Francis, as that's where we ate lunch.  At that time I don't think there was a construction closure at Francis yet, although I'm not 100% certain on that.

Not to gloat, but... that's actually my doing :Smile

I've been adding it as it gets installed!

Fun fact: The glass for all the anchor walls is being fabricated at KW Glass Systems, on Dutton Drive - right next to the OMSF. Local connection!

Location, location, location. May explain why Jay Aissa lied about about moving his Northfield Drive business out of Waterloo Region during the election.

Francis will be open, end to end, on Sunday, or so the GrandLinq construction worker told me as I ran into a dead end on King at the Beer store due to paving.

Will this reduce or increase driver frustration? I was just crossing Weber at Victoria when someone saw the lights turn green, and tried to bolt left across the with-right-of-way eastbound traffic, trying to run me over (jumped out of the way). He then had the courtesy to swear and flip me as he pulled into the red at Water. Ugh.

Just saw King / Francis being paved as well! The big news from the Ion update claims that it's going to reopen on Sunday Smile. Looking forward to it!

ALSO in the update: Charles will reopen to two way traffic next Wednesday! With the exception of between Ontario and Queen, which will remain one way until the retaining wall in front of the TD (err... Netsuite?) building is complete.

Also from the update: sounds like the crossover installation at Cameron Heights will start soon! Haven't been by since Monday so perhaps they've already begun.

The point is that the Transport Canada standards are nonsensical, actively harmful and need to change.
