Grand River Transit
Maybe Greyhound is going to move back inside. Rolleyes

Could be an EasyGO distribution desk. If getting someone set up takes a little longer than the average pass purchase, I could understand them wanting to move it away from the regular tills. (Or in addition to the regular tills)

The population for Wellesley in nms's table is for the entire township. The village itself is only 3,246.

I thought I'd correct nms's table, since a lot of the figures come from different sources or years and there are a few villages/places that were missing. Using only 2016 data, these are the population figures for the villages and towns in the region.

This may be temporary. When I asked them a few months ago about the card launch, they mentioned they were going to renovate the current ticket counter area.

Ahh - so this could become the temporary ticket office while the original is renovated...

I hope the renovation isn't too involved, they'll be moving to the transit hub relatively soon.
Reply
Well... it could be in 3 years, or it could be 10... nobody knows.

I thought a date like 2022 or so was set for completion of the transit components?

I've read anything from 2020 to 2030, now. I'm certainly not holding my breath!

I've always thought having the service counter tucked away up top and hidden from the public was a bit strange.

Shouldn't they be phasing it out? Based on the 2018 network map only the 34 will stop there.

Plus, they are building that $250,000 GRT customer service storefront on Frederick (reference 1, reference 2). Maybe they are transferring the Charles equipment there and leaving a bare minimum at Charles going forward?
Everyone move to the back of the bus and we all get home faster.

Where on Frederick?

No idea. I'm am going to guess one of the units in the Market Square mall that back on to Frederick. Would be nice to reanimate that stretch with some shop windows and doors.

The old post office unit has a door to the street (the mail trucks would use it)...

Quite a milestone!

Are the cards coming out next month?

January launch was the word; cards should be ready before then, I would think.
