The former Black Forest Inn in Conestogo will re-open next year as another Ignite Restaurant Group eatery, the Crowsfoot Ciderhouse (schmecky plus in-house ciders).

The renovated and expanded building will include a market featuring local foods and will serve as the offices of the Ignite Restaurant Group.

I heard a rumour that an Anchor Bar is to open at Waterloo Town Square in what was the former Carl Jr's location. Has anyone else heard this one? Would be great if it were true. I believe there's one in Hamilton.

Also, does anyone know what's going in at the southwest corner of Bridgeport and Weber where Wright Auto sales use to be? Very curious.

Damn! I was hoping for a pub or restaurant. A construction firm? You can't eat that!

Yes, and legend has it that they (Anchor Bar) are where Buffalo wings were first created.

I certainly hope this comes to pass!

The original Anchor Bar is (unsurprisingly) in Buffalo, and not that far away.
I went there while on a road trip.

It's a bar. They have wings.

They're surprisingly reserved about their place in history.

Looks like McMullens may be shutting down in the new year. Owner is retiring and his son doesn’t want to take it over. Really sucks. Love that place.

They should be able to find a buyer, I assume? I remember going to the one in Waterloo a number of times, though well before it closed.

Their pizza and beer deal is hard to beat. Unsure what the equivalent is in that area.

Four Fathers Brewing opened recently in Hespeler. The facility is quite impressive. Currently the bottle shop is open but you are able to order draught and flights there. They are still waiting for a license for the beer hall. I was surprised that right off the bat they already have 12 taps running.

I think this is just a relocation, so the broad selection off the bat isn't terribly surprising. What was the rationale for them moving? As I recall, they were in Rockwood before, but with no public-facing side, so they were entirely dependent on retailers. I'm guessing craft brewers are more dependent on direct sales, so Rockwood was a less-than-ideal location for them.

Was there a second one in the region?  One Uptown and one on Highland?

I tried their Ukrainian Dark Lager when I was in Elora last week.  Delicious!

The uptown one closed several years ago after a wind storm damaged the roof on the building. I believe they tried to reopen it but not sure if they did after.
