ION - Waterloo Region's Light Rail Transit

A Jeff Out hit piece? Tongue

I found the methodology somewhat questionable, although in terms of running down LRT I think we’ve seen worse. With any luck collisions involving LRT won’t be common enough to do any sort of statistics on them.

Now that one is a fully protected turn, I'm sensing an illegal turn.

Fire trucks came by Victoria/King. And trains are holding at Central station in both directions.

Moving again southbound.

I kind of always new people turned without fully looking first, but it's astonishing how bad it really is. I can understand how if you're looking for cars, it's easy to visually miss a cyclist or walker, but a train?!

If that's the left turn from south/east-bound King Street in front of KCI, I have seen a number of motorists simply turn illegally after not getting a left turn signal because they were stopped on top of the crosswalk, too far forward of the sensors.

It has to be, unless there was a signal malfunction.

From the picture on CTV's web site, it looks as though the driver must have been trying to make an illegal U-Turn from north/west-bound King to south/east-bound King. That's not uncommon there, either.

It could also be a left turn from Central Fresh Market onto King, if the train pushed the van through the intersection.

If you're going north on King but want to access somewhere on the west side of the street, you have to turn around to reach it. You should properly use a designated U-turn or make use of side streets, but not everyone has the patience for that...
