The last time I paid attention (and many time before that) both cars and the pedestrians crossing were red when the signals/gates were active, which is really a lost opportunity for handling Laurel trail flows.
I think it is close to doing this. Yes, both signals are red when the gates are active, but if you push the button, the pedestrian signal will change for the duration. I don't think the timing is quite what you suggest.
Okay, then that's new. On multiple occasions earlier this year it ignored the beg button on me while the gates were down.

Likely to keep people from crossing the road between the lights. This was at 3:30, seemed to be working as no one was crossing. But it was an hour since classes ended. Wonder what its like right after school.
So I'm confused here. Were the security trying to prevent people from crossing King St or the tracks?

If you're crossing one, you're crossing both. But, given that they're transit security, presumably it's the tracks that they're interested in. They have been standing on the tracks.

Isn’t it unsafe to stand on the tracks?

I had thought so, but transit security personnel have been doing it all week, so it must not be.

If they are just security guards what are they gonna do to stop you from crossing?

If they are standing in the middle of the trackway where the poles are with high-vis vests on they're fine.

Does anyone know why there were delays today again around 3:00? I was at the pharmacy on king and didn't see any southbound trains, then noticed fairly large crowds waiting for the LRT, with times Next Trains 0:00 and 0:03 -- finally a message came on that there were delays in the system. I'm guessing another accident but didn't see anything, but I did notice a lot of drivers making u-turns and left turns at the no u-turn and no left-turn signage on King St.

I heard on the scanner about a problem (vehicle collision?) at Caroline and William.

Any idea why the traffic lights appear to be stuck on yellow in this video Canard posted?

Those lights are actually on red. The top signal aspect is a Transit Priority signal for buses.

I don't know if it involved a train or not, but I was waiting at Central Station to go southbound around this time. No trains were coming and it said delayed on the sign. Eventually a train came, but it just drove past the station. Then about 5 minutes later a train came and stopped, and we were able to get on. So perhaps the one which drove past was hit.

Well, if the train was damaged, you'd think it would go northbound and not south.
Either way, they need to figure a way to get the trains running on a regular basis.

I was thinking that, but maybe it went south to the crossover at Cameron Heights and then back, rather than reverse-running to Green St.
