The COVID-19 pandemic
Let's not forget that having a large swath of unvaccinated children can result in further mutations of the virus which could have an impact on vaccines overall, so it's good to get your child vaccinated regardless, unless there is some medical reason they cannot be.

This cannot be said enough times.

What is so hard for people to understand about this? We need to minimize the breeding ground for the virus and not have it circulating in the human population.

I dont understand why theres any hesitation. Shut down international travel. If it's a nothingburger what's a couple weeks of no travel in the middle of the pandemic and if it's a big deal we have a very small window to get on top of this.

This new variant seems particularly nasty -- hopefully the vaccine doesn't play nicely with the variant (in the sense that it is effective). But good call on restricting travel. But, good chance the variant is already in Canada, or will be with travel to/from so-called safe countries.
