Finally! I entertain faint hope that there won't be too many NIMBYs shouting this one down.

It passed without any delegations, questions, or comments from council.

I was starting to wonder if this was even going to happen. Sort of tired of looking at the empty lots. Hopefully the construction is able to start soon.

This has been underway for a week or two now.

They started driving piles on Monday this week.

Excavation is well underway.

The size of this always surprises me when I walk by. I just remember the hole for Market Flats and assumed this would be similar but it is huge.

Here's a picture of the crane from the LRT right before Market Station. This building is going to stick out until more midrise get's built over there.

The basement floor now has concrete, so this project has nowhere to go but up after this. Smile

Has this one stalled? From Weber Street, looks like it has not grown since I last checked close up in January.

I live just down the street. No work on the site in the last 5-6 months. I put an inquiry into the local councillor asking if the project had died. No response.

There's a hold up at the above ground permit, I don't know what it is but it was submitted last year and is still has an application status. There is likely something behind the scenes, the city may have a backlog or there is some condition on the permit that is preventing issuance of the permit. The same thing is happening with the 3 above grade permits for buildings A, B and C at The Metz. Likewise the same thing is happening with 1001 King (Lower Kitchener).

All the permits with that issue are from the same time in terms of application dates, permits before then seem to have processed fine (1295 Bleams was before and has the permit). Developers don't like stopping construction so there is inevitably a permit issue with the above mentioned projects, or the city is that backed up which seems unlikely.

Spoke to my friend who lives on Weber with this development right behind his back yard, He said the developers ran out of money hense the delay in construction. Don't know if it's true tho.

They are currently digging up Duke St right in front of this project, so I assume it's related.
