Wow, look how green the grass is!  Just need to move the right hand strip unto the tracks.

I bet the architects that worked on this were loving it. They only had to do the podium and first floor, then copy + paste it 40ish times. Easymode!

I like the fact that is it copy past for 40+ stories. It look clean and crisp. I think the main issue with a lot of the KW buildings going up is Architects overthinking the materials/ massing and changing the look/ layout 20-30 stories up making the building look incoherent.  The podium is definitely not the best though, great for Kitchener/waterloo standards, but I think it looks pretty bad.  Overall I think this building is one of the better looking in DTK.

The simplicity of the tower does work in its favour. Indeed, it doesn't have all sorts of incoherent and meaningless features. I mean look at how weird the Vertikal project is, or that Eureka! one that has gone through half a dozen iterations of various high rise prison looking designs. The podium is fairly bland for sure, but actually one of the most interesting when you compare it to...basically every other tower downtown. I do worry about the white panels not aging well or at least looking weathered very quickly, so hopefully they take the time to power wash it if it starts getting stains.

Haha...see the contrast? The One Hundred and Garment Street project looks like ass since they use that trendy boxy facade design that you see on literally every condo building these days. Those pointless overhangs so many buildings have on the top are just awful. I never thought I'd ever say an SRM Architects project looks better than almost every recent condo downtown.

But does that mean they've hired better talent, or is the bar just so damn low that a featureless glass skyscraper is actually one of the nicest things you can find in Waterloo Region (for now)?

I've herd that called the Condo Combover.

Haha, never heard that before but that's perfect to describe those stupid things.

I would really hate to be one of the people who paid those prices in mid-2022.

My guess is that a lot of people will be walking away at closing like is happening in Toronto. They will not be able to get mortgages. Many condos on mls selling for between $500 and $600 a square foot.

That pricing is incomprehensible, even by 2022 standards. There was never a time that a 350 sqft studio in Kitchener was worth even close to ~750k. I fully agree with creative that many buyers will be walking away here, whether because they can't get a mortgage or otherwise.
